Syracuse, NY– A coalition of organizations will host the second Climate Solutions Summit on Saturday, May 19th at Fowler High School in Syracuse, NY. The Climate Solutions Summit aims to build a larger movement that is prepared to take action for climate solutions. The summit is an opportunity for organizers and people from all communities across the region to come together to share projects, case studies, resources, experiences and skills to tackle climate change and implement solutions.
Governor Cuomo and New York State have proposed one of the strongest mandates for renewables in the nation, calling for 50% renewable energy by 2030 and a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The state has also set ambitious goals for electric vehicles and EV infrastructure, calling for 30,000 EVs on the road in NY by 2018 and 1 million by 2025, and is rolling out new programs to help building owners increase their energy efficiency.
This year’s featured Keynote speakers include Oren Lyons, Faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan of the Onondaga Nation; Eric Walker, Renewable Energy Advisor and Former Director of Sustainable Development for Erie County; and Judith Enck, Former Regional Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
